U.S Helmet No Clue What It Is

I Just recently got a U.S World War 2 helmet I have no clue what it is. It Has No liner just the chin straps. A couple dents on the top. A marking on the inside that says P-1603. Can you help Me please.

yup looks to be a US WW2 fixed bail M-1 the number P-1603 stamped in it is the initial & part of the service number of the soldier that would have worn it.

the bail or loop is were the chin strap attaches to the shell early M-1s have a fixed/none moving version & the later M-1 has the swivel/moveable version. in order to give a rough date we'll need the heat stamp number please check out the link to see what this is Rough guide to the US M-1, M-2 & M-1C shell

The heat stamp says 330C

that number gives you a rough manufacture date of November 1942.

Do you know where i can find a replacement liner for the helmet? Because i would love to have one in the helmet.
