US Helmet info

Just dug the helmet out of the attic it's been there a few years, can anyone help with id. It has a name on the inside of the shell (see pic) is it possible to find any info of the name, one of the liner straps has a date of may 67.

sorry cant help with the name but i can tell you this is a Vietnam era US M-1 helmet

I think the steel helmet is from WW2 and the camouflage is from Vietnam era

the shell could be a late WW2 reissued shell but in ts current set up it would have been used in Vietnam.

Most likely a Korea or later shell, but possibly late WWII as so many were manufactured that they were reissued up until the late 70's.

Looks like an original condition named Vietnam helmet. These will become harder to find as people try to "restore" them back to a WW2 configuration. I'd suggest that you leave it alone, and together. It's a great piece of history. As has been said before, helmets were re issued with new paint, new liners, and new straps. This one has a great been there look. Try NARA for id info.

Hi,

In the shell you have a number graved in the front, with this number you can find the date of fabrication. (photo please).
The liner is an korean or vietnam liner.
