    This is an US helmet from WW2..
    There is red painted on the steel a symbol.

    It is from the pacific war area or from european area??

    If, and it's a bit tricky to tell, the outline is round like the one shown n the museum shot above, I would suggest it represents the "Red ball Express" - the nickname given to the overland supply line in France after D-Day.

    its an M-1 shell an M-2 was an airborne shell with fixed D shaped bails.
