well unless you were visiting Serling Massachusetts USA it wasnt the same helmet....i paid $45.00 for it at a little church auction. Unfortunately Im still left high and dry on this one....should i leave it as is or what....chime in guys !!

I cant really say I was there The one on ebay sold for 40 euros, same colour and same liner.
I would leave the helmet as it is if it was mine

if it were mine i would no doubt leave it as is .tampering with them reduces the value and history and sometimes turns out looking really bad so i personally think you should leave it as is .cheers !
well given the navy or someone else must have already painted it, I would think it would not matter if you did restore it. Obviously you dont like it in this color anyhow
Why not strip it,and get a some OD green shoot a coat,then sprinkle some cork dust(you can make it with some 40 grit sand paper) consistently over it while the paint is still tacky,then shoot another coat.
it would look great restored back to its glory,and would be easy to do.
ofcourse watch it be some rare navy model......LOL!
