To all, I'm really not an expert on the M1 (I've only had two other fixed bales in past)
The spits on my fixed bale, is that an indication of early mfg? and also I have no reference on how to date a heat stamp

the stress fractures can happen to any M-1 even to post war versions its just a side affect of the manufacturing process if you want a rough guide on heat stamp dating the books HELMETS OF THE ETO has a dating chart.
