cool man thanks for sharing. i posted these on a earlier thread, but the similarity remains. thing that puzzles is the unnecessary stitching. there are triangles and other patterns stiched all over it, as well as around the rim. seems like PFC Dever put alot of work into his cover. thanks for sharing.

i would have to say that the graffiti is post NAM war as it looks too fresh Ive seen allot of original NAM graffiti helmets & this just doesn't fit the bill also the guy wouldn't have been given the rank with a big peace sign on his cover.

this looks the be the patch to the front Specialist (rank) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

i do agree, if it were in the jungle for a long time the leakage from the original pen would probably have been washed out, but hey you never know. it is still a really cool looking helmet, and the badge and name is really cool.

    Hi,
Nice helmets i do like the Nam helmet i only have one in my collection but would like more, Im not to fond of the graffiti on the first cover it really does,nt look right i think it,s not faded enough to be original Nam, i do think it was added at a later date. But nick and M1, i do like the field repair stitching on your liners,
    dave.

Graffiti on helmet covers and field gear, in general, became common during Vietnam and contiues to this day. We recently picked up a half dozen or so PASGT helmet covers, probably from the 1990's, with a variety of different graffiti including names. We also have a VN era Haversack with some really cool art work on it. However, in almost all cases, the items we have with graffiti are all very faded, it doesn't take long.
