    Default Vietnam era M1

I just acquired an M1 helmet from the Vietnam era, heat stamp #604, short numbers stamp. it has a stainless rim and was wondering how often were these installed on helmets. I thought only WW2 models had stainless rims. It's shiny and the paint doesn't stay on like the WW2 models. I believe I saw another one on ebay recently.

Vietnam era items and artifacts are becoming a great topic, and I do not see a dedicated heading for it? I have local people that are picking up NVA helmets and buckles etc...

Yes. The WW2 stampings were stretched as compared to the short versions on the V.N. helmets.

Well I need to re-finish it because it's rather rusted. Will sand it down and paint it and probably show it at a later period.

Thanks Rudder. I have had a number of V.N. lids but never one with the s.s. rim. Thanks again.
