    Hi everyone !

Some time ago I got and americain WW2 helmet from my dad.
When he was young he found it at a farmers barn nearby .
I'm curious to know which specific type it is and google isnt helping really

Also on the inside on both sides there are markings, what do they mean ?

The helmet is some rusted but still strong, there is a crack.

I would like to find out more about it and maybe obtain an original WW2 liner to make it complete again.
Just want to keep it as I recieved it from my dad !

What you have there is an early ww2 us army m1 helmet. It has a stainless steel front seam rim and fixed bales.1941-43.The numbers inside is the first letter of the soldiers last name along with the last four digits of his ASN.
Where was it found by the way?

My dad found it a long time ago in the barn of a pig farmer ( he didnt dig it up) , In Belgium in the Flanders region !
A few km's from my home there was a small airfield in WW2 used by the germans. Now it's gone and there is a lake and golfclub instead.

But in the helmet there are one side 2 lines and other side 1 line
Which one is then the ASN?

display as it was originally found, why add a liner without chinstraps, you wont see the liner any how, show that magnificent McCord lid with its unique stress crack and stainless fixed bales,in all its integrity just how i like them,i wonder how many of these lids were lost on the way through france, holland, belgium etc, fantastic iconic piece of history, cheers dave.
