ww2 fixed bale front seam m1 helmet original paint?

Got this in the other day and paid $20 for it its a front seam i fixed bale helmet and was wondering if this was a relic helmet that has been cleaned or is that how the original paint is suppose to look like?, from my point of view I see a lot of what looks like rust pits but maybe I am wrong I let you guys be the judge

Nothing wrong with that, and for the price I think
you did well. It looks a good candidate for a
restoration, although some people frown
on the idea.........

Looks good for restoration to me, if it has been cleaned and any original paint removed the damage has already been done, there are a few threads on the m1 forum, have a look at what can be done, and at $20 thats a catch.
