these are my m1s and liners. sorry wolkwolf for copying the way you posted your image. just thought it worked well.
there is more i would like to get but the prices of these helmet are going up.
there is a australian m1 in there too it is the one with the lighter green webing. and with the woodland camo cover on it. i would have taken the covers of to but i dont like to mess with them to much.
I haven't posted the WWII ones yet.........
The US M1 helmet was the first 'lid' that I 'fell in love with'.
It is an iconic piece of headgear - and like the Coca Cola
bottle or the WWII Willys MB Jeep, they are instantly
recognisable.........!
( Love all German helms for the same reason.........! )
Regards,
Steve.
much the same for me to walkwolf. the m1 helmet what i like about them as well is the fact that this helmet still evolved well after ww2 to the 80s, but keeping its shape in some way.
Same, great photos! I will get a picture of my collection soon
Some great lids being shown! I especially like that silk parachute cover, Geelong!!
Here are some of my contributions!
1953 Blue Anchor contract USMC cover. Shell is a FS/FB McCord. It has a 52 dated CAPAC/Westinhouse liner (not pictured)
1959 dated USMC contract Mitchell cover. Shell is a FS/SB. Liner is a Westinghouse
1967 dated Captial Fur Twill Mitchell cover. Shell is a RS/SB. Liner is 64 dated
WWII Westinghouse Airborne liner with Korean War repaint and decals. Couldn't find it in my heart to put a shell over this and cover the decals.
1969 dated ERDL cover. Shell is a RS/SB. Liner is also 69 dated I believe (can't recall off-hand)
This was a direct vet acquired set (Brigadier General). Cover is 74 dated as is the liner. Shell is RS/SB. The other liner was his during and after Korea. Couldn't find a maker on this one.
Last is a FS/FB McCord with CAPAC liner and camo net.
Good stuff Eric.
