the liner is WWII with Vietnam era headband

    the cover is 1980's

the chin straps are the VN era clamp on type

    not sure about the shell?

a helmet like this is worth around $35 - $45

you paid about twice as much as it's worth

wise decision, it's a mixed set

I wouldnt pay $90 for a post war mixed set like this

here are some tips on what to look for if you want a WWII helmet:

shell should have original finish with cork texture, lots of WWII shells were refinished post war Vietnam era with a fine sand / silca finish

original WWII shells had sewn on bar tacked chin straps [not clamp on type] the type on the helmet are 1960's era

without the original finish and chin straps the helmet is no longer a true WWII helmet set.

it's a post war VN era and later reused helmet, without seeing the shell it could also be a later VN or later shell, late shells are only worth around $10

if this set didnt have a WWII liner it would only be worth around $15 the liner is the best part, sometimes if I find a helmet set like this cheap, I buy it just to get the WWII liner so I can put together a complete WWII helmet set with WWII shell & straps.

at $90 your much better off saving your money for something better

well what i would say is this yes for $90 a bit much for a mix & match helmet BUT if this is a WW2 era liner these on there own can go for around $40 depending on maker the liner chin strap if again WW2 original can fetch $20-30 sometimes more & if the shell is a re-issued front seam shell depending on condition can be around the $20 mark so when you look at it like that $90 is not to bad ?
