Is the tunic padded?-medieval plate was worn over padded clothing to make it more comfortable (relatively that is) and to help absorb blows delivered to the armour being felt by the wearer.
Sure. And yet Russian savages wear pants and a shirt, which also also invented in the medieval times.
I was simply asking if the tunic worn under the armour was padded-I cannot read Cyrillic Russian script.
I beg your pardon.
The armor was not padded. In winter and summer times under armor dress cotton padded jacket telogreyka. In summer time, the sleeves of telogreyka cut off preferred. Also in winter, put on top of the greatcoat. And under greatcoat anyway worn telogreyka-jacket.
This is outstanding info. I cannot thank you enough for posting this. You have made my day!
Cheers, Ade.

Mixer,
I echo Adrian's sentiments... This is a leap in understanding for many people. Thank you for posting the image, as we say it is worth 1000 words. It answers much, but are there other images showing the details of the individual components, belts, and buckles... or the vest without the plates attached. Very Good
Shit... I'm on DishModels all the time an (for scale modeling topics) never knew this was here. Thank you kindly for the link.
