Has anyone ever seen a Russian Maxim spare barrier cover/case in use.
I one I brought from the states some years ago but the colour of the canvas would suggest post-war manufacture.
I have never seen any photographic evidence of them in use.

I know the Finnish used them but most i have seen are in Green leather
I have a tan one that came with a 1944 dated spare barrel I bought 10 years ago. Has a leather button, always wondered about the origin.
I will dig it out and post pics.
My mistake, I haven't looked at it in years. The barrel of course is not dated (Tula), my Maxim is dated 1944. Very nice barrel with excellent bore.
I remember I paid $50.00 for both in 2005. The case does not seem Russian made. The color is an odd light reed green which seems more Polish than Russian. Plus, with the barrel inserted, the closure strap does not reach.
Any opinions?
