    ......except when it becomes a retro chic kitchen accessory

    I found this ex-Soviet submarine bulkhead clock (circa 1980s) and bought is as seen for £50. It had no key and I didn't believe for a moment that it worked (I was sure that was the reason for the key not being available).

    However, it is in great cosmetic shape and had a back/buklhead-mounting plate which is unusual in itself (I would have preferred the wood variant but black plastic is fine really).

    So, a visit to a local traditional clock specialist and my gamble paid off. It wasn't broken but had maybe been roughly handled to the point where its' guts had been badly shaken up. The remedial work wasn't cheap but I am still very much "in pocket" and I have managed to get one of my "toys" on open show in the house. Plus, I have always liked these and this one is really nice so a win all round I think

    Oh my god... a bulkhead clock recovered from a (leaky) Soviet nuclear powered sub (maybe), get the Geiger counter on it!

    Hahaha! I think our old G10 watches, binos and luminous route markers were more of a risk!!
