Wouldn't the one with the hook be post war? I thought if the buckle was in your left hand when hooking it up it was made after 1952?
This is what I thought also??? I saw another post from Dimas I think, that said pre 45 buckles were attached to belt on the right side, and 1950 got switched to the left side, where you would be holding the buckle in "left hand" while fastening.
What's the true story here.....is it one or the other.....or does no one know for sure about these M40? or M43? buckles???
Lets try to get a definitive answer here if possible. I feel this is important information to know.

I see the interest in belt buckles has slacked off a bit. It would be nice to know the answers to a few questions that have been asked in this thread.

I just posted 3 red army- star buckles who might be from diferent periods, because they are all slightly diferent in colour and design. Maybe someone here knows??
