What is Covid-19 like on the other side of the pond?

Article about: We are in full shut down mode as of today. Still going to work but not much else. We are just beginning to surge of cases and deaths. Italy and Spain are struggling. What is life like in the

    Oh that would be bad!!!!

Liquor stores in our area are deemed essential, thankfully. I stocked up on beer and Scotch just in case.

The only problem with stocking up 'just in case' is that the temptation to drink more (to make room for more) is just too great. My emergency single malt rations are dwindling a bit too fast... and as I'm confined to barracks for three months, I can't even sneak out and get fresh supplies. I can hardly ask the wife either! She thinks that I am using it in 'moderation.'

It is definitely a risk. Work is busy so that keeps the risk in check.

I'd like to thank WR for being (possibly) the ONLY "institution" that HASN'T emailed me to tell me how they're helping me through the virus period....even though it's one of the few online thingies which actually IS helping me through!! :-)

It seems that everyone who has me on file is sending me an email, usually from the CEO, telling me what they're doing and how it will help me...the latest was from the Auto Dealership I dealt with TWO YEARS AGO!!!...they haven't given a FF about me for 24 months but are now assuring me that their staff may be available on the phone but added that their ridiculously over-expensive workshops will be closed. Even broadband providers are writing to us (via that very same Broadband!) to tell us that they'll continue....errrr.....Broadbanding presumably [as they have for the last X years!!!].

...and another thing.......can someone PLEASE put a kitten up a tree....or throw a bulldog onto a skate board......or film something hilarious in the kitchen and send it to the News Channels...ANYTHING for a "and finally"-moment to lighten the load

...and why are we bothering about those idiots who're filmed mingling, playing, socialising.....face-rec them and withhold health support when they catch it.....or draw up a map of waste ground and sports stadiums nearby and............. (and yes, I know it's about them SPREADING it....but Darwin would suggest that they're spreading it to other idiots so the gene pool will actually improve!)

    ...or is it just me?

I was actually looking forward to taking a little time of work but I've been
classified as essential so no time off for me. I am actually thankful that we are
still healthy and able to work. I feel so bad for those who have lost their jobs and are
    looking at an uncertain future.

Our local liquor store is doing a h3ll of a business. It seems a LOT of people are stocking up.

What the advocates for the Left ( Media ) are not reporting are the great numbers of those who WERE infected ARE NOT sick anymore.
Bad news Sells and it always has. There is a silver lining in all this.

Just imagine if the common cold and yearly flus were reported like this the hospitals would be jammed every year.
Is this Virus serious?...of course it is because its a larger strain than what the normal flu brings so yea..its going to make people sick. ( Some if not Most )

Of course also it will attack those whose immune systems are weak no matter what age. We can lessen that especially us older Guys and Gals if we take a vitamin supplement , exercise and of course always wash our hands flu or no flu. Its good hygiene.
All this is going to pass and this virus is a little larger than what commonly hits us...We are going to make it through this.

For the older guys who remember the Hanna Barbera cartoon series " Gullivers Travels "...dont be the character " Glum" who always said.." We are all doomed "

When I sailed(fishing trawler) there was 3 cases in NZ now there are over 500(pop 4mil) country is in lockdown for 4 weeks. It hard being away while your family goes through this. My partner asthmatic, my son is on immuno suppression medication. After 6 weeks we are docking on the 4th. We are not allowed of the boat and will sail for another trip the next night after unloading. No going home to see family. If we decide not to sail we will not get paid for over 12 weeks as we are supposedly an essential service. Damn world gone crazy. At least we have plenty of toilet paper

They have now re-opened the "off licences" = UK/US = "liquor stores".

Now deemed "essential", people have gone mad and nearly all the booze has gone from the shelves.

    Beer is good for you!

    If you can get it..

Arizona Governor just issued a Stay At Home law since we reached the 1000 infected. Yuma went from 4 to 9 infected in one day.
At our local hospital they are not testing anymore and are sending you home to self quarantine if you have all the symptoms . You only get in if you are in respiratory failure.
Nurses(Angels) only get one mask to wear on their 12 hour shifts.

The Pentagon issued and order to all services to not report how many are infected to the media or public.
Which ***** when you work for them. But it would let the enemy know our troop strength and weakness.

We will continue to march and do our duty for God and Country!
