This one sold on Ebay yesterday,The numbers look right and it appears to be formed in a press.The pins were my concern but I feel i missed a good one.

Hi Dave, you missed buying a bad fake. Have a look around this section of the forum at some originals. The sheer marks don't look like this with that ridge line around the edge.

It is all a learning curve. It never stops.
My advice on these is, as always, make a file of saved pics of good and bad examples. Do this by maker.

This is, I'm fairly certain, the same fake skull which has been floating around eBay for some time now. I was given the chance to buy it myself a couple of times; good thing you missed it!

This one is a 'Classic'.
Those pins looked bad, let alone the ridge around the edge.
I'm glad you avoided this one, I just received my new fake 499/41 yesterday. I've decided to start collecting fakes as a hobby.
