Late war skull or fake?

I got this in a bundle buy that was mixed with both original pieces and reproductions. At first glance I dismissed this skull as a fake due to the lack of a makers mark, overall detail, the shape of the prongs and just the odds of it being real. But after researching further and looking at other examples I'm no longer decided. So I'm posting just to make sure. Could it be a late war example or is it just another fake?
