I like these skulls whether they are ground dug relics or not.As with any peice of militaria,it is much better,indeed perfect if we can obtain a peices history but that is all to often unfortunatly lost in the past.As for investment in a nice SS skull or a beautiful women,at least you know with the skull it will be where you left it the night before(unless there has been a theif in the night!)in which case the skull and the women will most probably have both been ruined!

I agree with what you have said, and can only comment on my own understandings.

Please realise that I am new to the forum and haven't seen a great deal of posts regarding different facets of the Third Reich etc. that aren't in the history books or specialist publications that I have read etc.

I agree with the fact alot of the mystery surrounding the SS has been answered by the history books, discussion groups, specialists and the like but there are still things associated with them that we do not fully understand....Did ODESSA truly exist? I have seen programs and literature saying yes and no....did the SS or at least some of those associated with the final days of the Third Reich drop tonnes of gold in one of the lakes in the Alps such as Lake Topplitz? To name a couple of them. I guess at the end of the day they make a good read in any Jack Higgans novel or movies where the enigma of them is a good selling point. Even Indiana Jones has run ins with them!!

I have no interest in the Far Right extremism that they portrayed and carried out and that is definately not what I find interesting. I find the fact like many on the forum that subscribe to the SS section, that there are very interesting militaria that was a product of their success or infamy that helped them get the numbers that they had due to their uniforms, badges, etc., and the proof of the interest in these items is the number of people contributing to the forum.

I too am not saying that what I say is the absolute end of it, and I appreciate any persons interest in history and the things that helped make it.

In the interests of not boring you any further with my dialogue and 'flogging a dead horse' I will stop now. Thanks for taking the time to read my last post. I appreciate your feedback and my statements are just part of my personal opinions. No cheek intended.

How do I explain....

1. No one is boring me, the whole reason why I posted here is to read more from you guys and get a proper discussion going.
2. It doesn't matter what level of education about the period you are at, there is plenty more to learn.
3. Everyone is free to collect what they want. I'm just suggesting that with a little more study, whole other different trains of thought of why you're collecting this stuff will open up to you.
4. The next time I read any thread on this forum that states that they just like to collect "stuff from the Nazis", the thread WILL be closed and the member warned.

I know a lot of this is a translation issue and the benefit of the doubt is given but this forum and everyone involved in running it do not want to be associated with proudly collecting "Nazi" stuff just because they can afford it. That kind of thing gives us all a bad name which we can do without.

I hope that you don't think I like "just collecting things from the Nazis" as I never said that at all.

I realise typing words on a computer and not being able to speak face to face loses a lot of the tone etc. so forgive me for making it sound as though that is what you thought? Or maybe it wasn't aimed at me?

Either way I think I will call it a day and leave the forum. I do not wish to be associated with or thought of as someone like that.

Please re-consider your decision to leave because the concerns of the forum moderators are totaly in sync with your own concerns.
We do NOT wish to be associated with any sort of Nazi adoration either and that's why I had to make that point clear in post #25.

Gents there seems to be a misunderstanding in translation. Toffster and Calvaria,, please take it easy as there is no malicious intent being conveyed here. There has been 3 pages of thread but there is no need to detract from the topic because of a misunderstanding. There is no name calling here,,and also should be exercised by the members themselves. One persons opinion should not be taken out of context and made into something it is not. The SS forum is notably in a class by itself,, and it is not a playground,,where petty bickering ensues. It would be best to let it go and move forward with this thread. I would like to hear more about the item in question,,, If this simple request can not be achieved then the thread will be closed as no one will learn anything from the title of the thread.
