M1/52 marked Totenkopf- opinions?

Article about: This skull is fake fake fake. I never saw M1/52 skulls witch prongs like this Assman used prongs like those in marked skulls to (Ges Gesch ) The whole proportion of this skull is bad M1 sign

    Roya, the first skull you've posted looks like It has been dipped in silver?

    I think it's just how Deschlers are made - they oxidize and their silver wash wears off in strange patterns.

    Again, thanks for responses. It's kind of daunting though for me- I look between the skull I posted and all of your photos, and find each detail on the front matches up as far as I can tell. I understand now, as I had first thought, that the prongs confirm it to be fake- but it doesn't seem obvious at all to me from the front. All I can see as a difference is that features seem less defined, but I put that down to wear. I find that finish/patina doesn't indicate much as it varies from case to case.

    Oh this is stressful for a hobby... haha.

    You'll find that the level of stress varies from item to item. The more a certain piece is worth on the market, the more fakes that are harder to authenticate there will be. Totenkopf pins are up there, but there are worse items.
