I re-open this treath to close this "mistery-box"
in my search of good repros of type skulls ss i found this one ,not the same "scull" or "SKULL" but is the same concept.

No mysteries here, really.
alu insignia of more or less pre 1939 ish make were intended for the field grey peaked cap.
Whether Feinzink existed at the same time is something I will leave to others.
I surmise that the outbreak of war led to the phase out of the alu insignia in favor of the Feinzink for much of the insignia.
The Neusilber insignia were intended for the black caps.
