Re: Skull Deschler
There's some variants in the hallmarks on Deschler skulls. I guess If the guy who posted this skull doesn't send more pic's we'll never know for sure.

Re: Skull Deschler
I think you know that there are collectors who strip and otherwise deface real caps. My comment was not directed at you, in fact, as you well know. We have had this exchange before. Others are less careful than you.
My comment was directed at these people. There are more than you think.
If the cap badge is loose, then, of course, you can look at all of it.
What is wrong is to deface real material and destroy it because of the false assumption as to its markings.

Re: Skull Deschler
It is also true that real caps have fake insignia, which is a special problem.
The enclosures here are real caps with real insignia and, in nearly all cases, with insignia of the era.
Who is to say, of course, that at the time, persons did not replace the insignia on a regular basis? Who can say?

Sorry to say, the practice is by no means uncommon. There are some real offenders in this area, and its peeves me greatly.
We should preserve this stuff, not mangle and destroy it.
