If they were struck from a single sheet of consistent thickness I would expect the outer edge to be consistent also. Perhaps i'm mad or blind?
Hi Glenn, no it is OK, but I fully understand where you are coming from and it is useful to know your train of thought.
All down to the die and the finishing.
Here is another from my collection which exhibits the same traits. In hand when looking at the edge of the badge you would see the sheer marks.

Thanks Ade, you are right of course, the sheer marks would certainly be the confirming detail as they cannot be accurately rendered in a casting. Great example BTW!
