SS cap eagle 1936 pattern

Article about: This eagle marked SS 155/36 from Assmann had odd prongs. What are your opinions about it? (click on the pic's for better details)

I was tempted to post some side-by-side comparisons of these with an original, highlighting some of the specific details which are clear indications to me that these are fakes, but I share the concern with many that doing so will serve to help the fakers in improving their next generation of copies. I may still at least post photos of an original 155/36 by itself and allow others to judge for themselves how these differ from it.
It is plain that this 155/36 piece is a creature of our posts, is it not? I do not recall them five years ago, do you? I can assure you that the fake black SS enlisted cap has been transformed by our pictures. I look with a sense of resignation on all of this, but there is no reason for others to profit from our precious and specialized expertise.

Challenge and response are a normal feature of all human existence, especially human conflict.

I wish I had better eye sight as well as a steady hand to make photos of all of mine (...and I have more than some...), but neither obtains to me.

Thanks for the kind aid here.

I found a very good article in UM on the manufacture of cap badges ca. 1936. I shall have to post it.

This is a SS eagle 155/36 that I don't own anymore since last year. But it was difficult to make a comparison with those pic's.
I think they're indeed both fakes. But good one's though.
    Thanks for the comment.

I think we can rely on Mr. Wanek in all of these matters.

The electronic pictures are of spotty quality, and, then again, the only real test is to look at the thing with a lupe in hand, and to feel its weight, as well. The many cast fakes are quite heavy.

I will post the article I found on cap insignia production, and then those of you who can read German will be the wiser for it.
