These items in these images of mine are anything other than a fata morgana.
In most cases, however, the average internet image of what proposes to be an SS cap insignia is simply a fake of one kind or another.

Comparing this to the original posted above I am unsure now. I like the patina and the style of tabs but the mark does not seem crisp enough. Did late war examples had a lighter stamping or is this a fake?
