a further image to illustrate the evolution of such head wear. The cap in the right foreground is an ex Barandov Sudeten-Praha wonder.

An NSDAP cap ca. 1933 with the badge in question. This photo courtesy Bob Coleman, but the cap came from me. Notice the nice silver cap cords like the early SS cap in this thread. Of interest are also the cap fittings (buttons....) like the alte Armee, i.e. blank poliert, nicht gekoernt.

    Happy head wear.

a contemporary photo of some merit in connection with these cap badges.
The unity of SA and SS, an image made perhaps prior to the Bruedermord in June 1934.

There is a recording of Heini H. in the internet speaking to his officers in 1943 after the re-capture of Kharkow in which he waxes eloquent about the humble origins of the Allgemeine SS and its superiority to the SA, the latter having fussed too much about the regional tradition of the old Germany army where the SS only focused on the Reich and loyalty.

    Happy head wear

Thank you for the additional images. The SS kepi in post 15 has an RZM tag and SS runes in the Muetzenboden. The regulations of these items were not those of the RZM, but the OSAF and the RFSS respectively. The RZM merely administered the regulations of the NSDAP and its Gliederungen. Also, the Zeugmeisterei of the SA which presently became the RZM existed as of 1928. The requirement to mark items of party regalia emerged in late 1933 and was then further strengthened in late 1934.

Certain of these little omnibus party Hoheitszeichen have early RZM marks and some do not.

I wish someone would post more images from the Handbuch d. RZM.
