Recently acquired, love the pieces but not sure if they are repos or not:

These are repros / fakes. The details just aren't right, and none of these insignia actually had SS runes on the back.

This is a genuine example of a totenkopf I recently acquired, an obvious detail to compare is the cranial sutures (the lines on the top of the skull).

You're welcome. I don't know any details on what fakes originate from where or when, I'm just learning to distinguish them from genuine examples right now. Others may know though.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Great forum you guys have here with a fantastic wealth of items on display. I did notice there are quite a few "inquiry" threads here as to whether totenkopfs are real or fake, I definitely think the sub-forum would benefit from a totenkopf genuine/replica "debunking" sticky so as to not clog up the pages, don't you guys think?

There is already a sticky with different genuine examples, but that could be useful too. A while back, on the suggestion of a member here, I created two folders of photos for myself: real totenkopfs, and fakes. I keep adding to them every time a verdict is given on another example here. It's very useful for when you come to need reference.
