Re: Waffen SS Cap Eagle (Pre-36?)
The casting burr's around the edges are a dead give away I would think. The quality of the originals is just not there in this piece.
Cheers

It's soft because it's possibly made from a lead alloy.I'm pretty sure no originals were made from this material.
Cheers again

Re: Waffen SS Cap Eagle (Pre-36?)
I would very much appreciate that. If you consider yourself an expert on cap eagles, please enlightmen men.
I guess I will be returning this "SS eagle" to the seller tomorow. Must say I am very sad I have to do so. I just want to find an original for my collection. This one one equals 2 strikes.
The only things I have found that I know is real are my 5 Reich Mark coins and a true 2nd Class Iron Cross.

One thing to note - an original SS cap eagle will cost you about $250-$300.........

Will they accept a return with a pin broken off?

I suggest you do some researching here to see what real SS eagles look like, you will see the differences for yourself.
