fallschirmjaeger reg 1 pennant

Article about: I had on like it many years ago. Don't remember when or where I got it. Someone stole it from my display (in the early 80s) as I was packing up after a gun show. I've got photos of it somewh

    Default fallschirmjaeger reg 1 pennant

    hi there,

ive had this pennant since a kid in the late 60's and it was given to me by a vet who lived next door
    to my grandparents.
he was in the ox and bucks a para in ww2 and came from a military family.
he had heck of a lot of german stuff he brought back.

having said that, im a bit confused with the pennant as although its pretty old i have
    not seen one anywhere.
further it is of a thick plastic with a rubbery feel to it and although well made i've not heard of
this kind of material being used.
theres no maker or other marks present

i'm beginning to feel it might be a fantasy piece

any thoughts on this and was this kind of material used by the third reich?

    thanks

    ian

Not to my knowledge. It looks like a normal souvenir/tourist piece.

Hi Ian, not an item I have ever seen before either? Very attractive design regardless of any possible dubious origin.

Hopefully others will be able to add more.

    Cheers, Ade.

I don't like, seems to be one armband on a printed flag, or all is printed, very cheap!

It looks similar to Veteran organisation pennants, but they tend to not have the swaztika on them. I still think it might be something of that nature and as you say you have had it a long time. It probably displays well with a collection of other FJ items.

    Whatever its just an opinion.

I agree with Jerry B (above), looks like it would be from some form of Veteran's Organisation. Interesting that they have kept the swastika on this one.

I have never seen another example of this piece and I would doubt qa faker only made one. My thoughts are that it was likely a souvenir piece made for members of the regiment. In the 1960's, it is doubtful that anyone would have taken the time to make such an obscure piece.

Certainly don't be throwing it away as a fake.
