If a item appears to be in new condition, that is always an alarm to be heeded. Proper storage can effect the conservation of an item. Based on the construction of the piece, I agree with my colleagues that this is a period original piece

I agree a great flag, in regard to minty...I got one just as minty minus the paper...they still exist in Germany...here is mine, FYI I am just trying to show another for comparison.
