I know nothing about these so Im going to go out on a limb and risk getting beaten up with replies ..I thought these standartes were made of all cotton...this material appears to be some type of vinyl.

what a item to have.
According to regulations laid down in 1922, which was discussed in detail by Hitler to Hagl and Gahr, the cloth is of pure silk with a water resistant finish. The silk has an inner white cloth backing. (Which is required when hand or machine embroidering through silk).
The firm Gahr produced the metal parts. The wood components were machine turned and hand finished. I believe the reverse of the finial has "Otto Gahr" engraved on it.
The patch is red leather.

A super piece and my guess it's in the 250,000 range.
That is stunning.
Hi, Here is another one for sale Deutschland Erwache Standard
( Larry) Am sure that Bob Coleman could tell you anything you need to know about these standards.
Here is an Absolute rarity. An original Deutschland Erwache Standard Cloth. Originaly Found in a Western German Town close to the French border. sadly the exact city is no longer known.
This piece is one of the ultimate German collectibles of the Third Reich and it is indeed synonymous with the period and one of the most recognised and powerful symbols of the National Socialist state.
Carried both by the SA and SS, very few have survived and those that have are in the most prestigous collections.
A highly desirable Relic of the Reich.
The flag we are offering has survived in a very collectible condition. Given its fragile materials after over 75-80 years.
The Flag cloth is made of high grade Red silk, with the Black silk swastika on a white silk circle, bordered with silver bullion tress. The swastika bordered by silver tress of a different pattern.
On the front the chain stitched white letters , with a black border , spell out the legend "Deutschland" "Erwache".
On the reverse "Nat.Soz. Deutechearbeiterpartei" and
" Sturmabteilung"
The reverse also has the intact leather patch, which prevented the silk from rubbing on the carrying pole.
As you can see in the photos there are minor abbrasions to the silk and a small hole on the front side & the red, white and black wool fringe shows a few missing strands.
The flag still shows vibrant colours and displays beautifully.
A highlight !!!
