It was looked for special and strong persons. Often there was a second person,
known as Begleitperson, available to take over. The carrying-strap with
"Schuh" was a big help and made carrying much easier.

I cannot find the weight for a Schellenbaum in spite of in-depth descriptions.
I have no description for the one for the army nor for the Luftwaffe. In the
army-regulation they do mention weight for item.
For example the one for the RAD was over 2.30 meter (image is from the
1939-handbook):
