Hi Al, I have it's twin.
Mine was taken at Narvik in 1940 by a Royal Navy Officer.
Cheers, Ade.
Woh...spooky. Two very nice flags gents . I've never seen the same stampings on 2 flags at different parts of the globe
Hello all !
Last week I picked up a RKF, but mine reads: "Reichkriegsfahne" with a loop at the top and cord about a foot long - Fahne being the correct german spelling for flag or banner.
Can anyone explain why two types of spelling were used, Flagge and Fahne?
It is 60x90, which I understand is non regulation size.
(It came in a group with another flag, an "alten guarde" (old guard) of same dimensions, a wool NSDAP armband, and a flak helfen cap. Story goes they were brought out of Berlin sometime after the war and stored in a dresser until now, but I don't know if it was from a vet or the flakhelfer himself, as I was third party to the find................)
Hi, the fact it is stamped Fahne will condem it as a fake. This is incorrect. The correct designation is Flagge.
The size is also incorrect.
Have you shown this elsewhere? The reason I ask because one the same as you describe turned up on another forum recently.
Cheers, Ade.
Hi,
Thanks for the responses.
I have not shown or described these elsewhere.
Across the bunting on the first flag it reads "60X90" to the left, "WALTER BUCH"
in the centre, and "ALTEN GARDE" on the right.
Extremely well made, printed cotton, one sided with multiple stitched edges, cotton top loop and rope end, bound with zig-zag stitching to the bunting top and bottom.
The second flags bunting reads: "60X90" to the left, and "REICHKRIEGSFAHNE" on the right. This one looks like the naval flag.
I know photos are the way to go, so I'll try to get some up as soon as I can !
Thanks again,
Steve.
Ade,
Could you guide me to the other forum so I can be sure it's not just me on another thread somewhere in War Relics asking info on two different flags ? ! ?
( This is the only forum I'm registered with ! )
