Personally i would give the whole thing a gentle steam clean without any detergent as this will get rid of any moth larvae or other mould forming funghi and will stop the thing from smelling, its normally mildew that causes cloth to smell. Id personally use the type that you clean delicate curtains with.

Thanks for all the advices, i just finished cleaning it with some product for delicate clothing.
Its drying up near the heater, but already smells a lot better.
