Description: Hello all,
Here's your chance to pick up a beautiful sword by Eickhorn. Bill Shea has this same sword priced at $850.00 in poor condition and without the knot. This is the Model 1714 Sword that is illustrated in the Eickhorn sales catalog. It is the early style with a brass base and is illustrated in the Angolia Sword Book, page 79, below. The obverse langet features a raised, closed-winged, Wehrmacht eagle which clutches a swastika in the eagles talons. The reverse languet is unadorned! The underside of the hilt is stamped “Ges. Gesch”. This abbreviation indicates that Eickhorn was in the process of patenting this design. The grip is in near perfect condition being the black celluloid over wood variety. It is tightly wrapped with triple, strands of aluminum wire with the center strand being larger and twisted, while the outer two strands are the smooth style. Beautiful grip here! The 32” nickel plated blade is bright and shiny with minimal in and out runner marks. The blade edges and tip is factory crisp. The reverse ricasso is stamped with the Eickhorn 1935-41 Squirrel trademark. The blade easily grades mint. The brown leather washer is present. The scabbard is straight throughout! The paint grades 98% with minimal wear.
