Description: Very nice RZM SS dagger which I bought indirectly from a vet source a few years ago.
RZM type 1196/38SS which is attributed to an unknown maker.
All fittings are the RZM plated type which apart from the scabbard show slight flaking in places which is pretty normal for this type.
Grip is made from a very hard ebony and fits like a glove between the guards. It has a nickel eagle so this would have been an earlier RZM piece on the changeover.
IMO this grip feels something like a boker, whether this maker was supplied a generic type Boker Grip I do not know?
Scabbard is near perfect with nearly all its original enamol paint and has the spidering we like to see which is associated with original paintwork.
Blade has near 100% crossgraining but has the slight greying in places. The blade has not been cleaned so would look better done so but that is not my way of collecting so I will not.
Of course unsharpened - tip is Perfect.
Motto has its full dark burnishing and looks great.
Tang nut is unturned and undamaged, along with all the screws on the scabbard.

All in all a nice unmauled original RZM piece. If you are looking to add to your of SS collection without over spending, this one may be for you.
