Its actually nowhere near any training area.

Just a quick update regarding this thing, I went back to take a look at it again seeing as its my day off, I hear someone shouting and a very angry farmer looking guy telling me to clear off and shouts at me asking what im doing etc etc, I say to him ive forms of ID in my car and im just here taking a look etc. He says there was a break in last week so his behaviour was understandable, he tells me the antiaircraft gun once he pulls it out of that wood (soon) hes taking it to the local scrappy to get the thing scrapped !

So I say to him id be very sad if that ever happaned as its a nice piece so I offer to buy the thing from him to save it. so He has my number now and will phone me once hes ready for me to take it off his hands. Problem is Ive no idea where to put the damn thing so I am going to have to for now hire a storage container.
If you need a hand moving it, let me know as I'm only on Lossie camp. If you need somewhere to put it, it all depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to own it and have it close to home then a ISO would work, or maybe you could display it at the Highlands Aviation Museum but still retain ownership. i.e. its somewhere to store it whilst restoring etc. If you want to have a look at one with the guns on and reasonably complete, let me know and I'll get you on to camp to have a look at the ones we have here on display. I have one sat outside my office at the moment.

cool, do you have a trailer or something similar though? A very kind gesture you would have to charge me for if that materialised. You on about the one opposite the archery hut? I got told off for sitting on it .-) I only live otherside of lossie near caravan park but Id have no place to put it near my house. what does ISO mean? ultimatly right now I would consider anywhere reasonably safe to store it before that farmer sends it to the scrap!

Unfortunatly no trailer big enough to move it on. A small truck would pull it, maybe even a Landy with a pin tow hitch. We've got at least 5 on camp, one at the main gate, one at XV Sqn, one at 12 Sqn, one at 617 Sqn and one outside my office at the Weapon Training Cell.

An ISO is a short name for an ISO container, ISO being International Standards Organisation. They set the standards for all members to meet, i.e. a container built to ISO standard in the UK is exactly the same in dimension (And other ways like door hinges, clasps etc) as one built in Korea, that way a ship builder, truck maker etc. can make their machines so that they fit the containers of all countries. You can imagine a non standard container from say China arriving in the UK but no body has a vehicle to unload it from a ship or even move it from the docks. ISO is a brilliant idea and applies to thousands of different every day items that you probably never even think about. Even quality control has a ISO!

Tis good to read there is still stuff at Lossie going back to when the Bucc's were there......the one at 617 was well played with by the origional folk that got to play with it...208Sqn.....
and like you say, a Landy should be able to tow it with the correct hitch set-up....
Weapons Training cell huh???......a fellow plumber then

Latest news is that it's being completely overhauled in preparation that if Scotland does become independent after the referendum on the 18th of September, it will be taking it's position alongside a large photograph of Susan Boyle on Hadrian's Wall as Scotland's ultimate defence weapon against southern invaders.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
