i wonder what prompted the dig. was the crash witnessed by some old villager or was it just happened upon using a metal detector? truly amazing!!!
The place of the crash was discovered by helicopter, usually swamp has a very small trees andyou can easily view the landscape. There a lot of the metall parts around the crater

    Dear Dimas!

What a touched story! I would like to know the complete story about the the discover, the researching and recovering. Would you be so kind as to post some source where I can find the detailed story?

I have seen this story in this site one year ago: «Âîåííàÿ Àðõåîëîãèÿ»

    Many Thanks in advance.

    Best Wishes

Like the bog body finds, I think the lack of oxygen probably is to credit for the excellent condtion of the body. I think his feet were probably amputated by the rudder bar, or pedals. (Did the Hurricane have a solid rudder bar, or a set of pedals?) I also have to link this to the recovery of the T-34 tank that was used by the Germans. When it was pulled from the swamp it was in, you could still see the paint and markings. If you go view that recovery, the similarities are striking. This was an excellent post, with really professional pictures. This was absolutely outstanding!

An incredible discovery and really moving images. I'm always torn between whether it's better to leave these sites undisturbed or give these poor kids a proper burial. I just hope that in this case, the pilot was buried as he was found and they didn't strip his gear off him first.

this is an amazing thread, it shows us one of the forgotton things about this whole relic digging hobby we share, I know at the start it says not for children but unlike most people under 18 I've seen a few dead bodies in real life, not photos but its not something I'm used to. Anyway, were the guys that found the wreckage prepared for what they discovered?
