Another problem guys, look inside the nose at the motor. An Allison V12 doesn't look like that - nor can the reduction gear just 'pop' off the end of the motor in a belly landing and end up where it is with no front fuselage damage.
A great image mind - but one that doesn't jell ....... helluva model though if thats what it is!

What makes me suspicious is the general condition of the exterior paintwork. Many years in the desert being periodically sandblasted would surely have removed more of the paint. Also, wouldn't a wheels up "landing" across that very unforgiving terrain have torn her up more - doesn't seem right, but stranger things have happened...
A bit more discussion on this 'plane' going on here:-

And here's a few downed P-40s .....all with the gear intact.

The aircraft is actually a type 'C' or 'D', making it a Tomahawk. Kittyhawks were P-40 'E', 'F' and 'G', Warhawks were type 'K' onwards. You can tell the difference by the lowered, more streamlined air intake on top of the cowling, it has also had the two machine guns removed fron over the engine and the spinner is not the fatter type as used on Kittyhawks/Warhawks. Is it real? I dunno...

Surely that cockpit would be full of sand after 70 years of sandstorms etc
