Here's one at the South African war museum
Nice pics, thanks
Found last week this hose from a Lancaster Merln engine. Of course the engines are all a little differnt depending the type of A/c they were in
I started my Engineering Apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce (1971) Ltd at Leavesden, Herts in 1971. One of the fun things we did during our down time was take out brand new Merlin pistons from the stores, there were loads of old stock, and saw them in half across the gudgeon pin hole to make ashtrays out of them! Oh the shame of it now. Sorry!
it had lower RPM than the Allison, I believe.....so greater range.....not enough to go around...well done my British friends
however, I did read, where it was somewhat ''copied'' from another country....which a lot of 'inventors' do
It does make sweet music in flight at speed, And 4 Merlins in a Lanc is nothing more than a symphony, The Mustang would have never been the escort that flew all the way to Berlin, and back, Without this engine, Thanks England
