My metal detecting trip around the Ruhr Pocket "Updated more pics"
Me and my friend flew down to Germany for some detecting in the Ruhr area
My detektor brother
Fisher F2 detektor, nothing fancy but works
Soldier grave in the woods. Died from artillery shrapnel
Just under the leaves besides the tree, not deep in the ground.
Someone was cooking here
20mm and the casing is about 14cm high. think its some kind of flak ammo.
On the bottom it says: 40 9b P490 and there is no damage on the detonator cap so its unfired.
Found out what the p490 is:
P490 Hugo Schneider A.-G., Werk Altenburg, Germany, rare fabricator i read.
A camera film container
We dont know what it is?
8x57j lots where found
Gasmask, has some markings on it, even found one of the eye rings
Flare casing with bullet hole
Blue tipped 12,7mm think it is fosfor so i dug it down, we even found silver tipped ones.
Hmm dont know what rifle this is?
K98 Bolt
Some kind of food tin
Think its some sort of detonator from a grenade or artillery shell, dangerous probably
And then I found this =)
K98 Bayonet
Still some leather from the frog on it
Cleaning it
The scabbard was in real bad condition so it broke some when i got the knife out, so now I am cleaning the blade to try and se the markings.
We also found alot of old coins and musket ammo etc.
I will upload some pictures of my german dogtag and some other stuff I also found.
Here is some more pics
No clue??
Some old buttons and 2 musket bullets. The pin is unidentified.
Was told it is a bell from a hunting dog from a long time ago but not sure
Gasmask eye ring without glas
K98 ammo pocket
Dogtag..to bad condition to se any text though
What caliber is the left one
As above
2 old coins
Same as above but flipped
Old coin but cant se what year or so,same coin as above.
This is metal plate with a sailship on
Some very old thing i think

Nice finds, love the bayonet
The detonator you found is from a 81mm Gr34 German Mortar shell.
