Re: Mystery "Tank" - location Afghanistan
It's an Italian Carro Veloce 33 tankette-widely exported by the Italians pre WW2 but of little combat use against anybody who was part of a real army but perhaps tribesmen with Martini Henrys would have been intimidated by the little 2 man crew vehicle with twin 8mm MGs max 14mm armour and weight of 3.2 tonnes.

Was this on display at Kabul Military Training Center? There was one on a raised platform in '03. No one (Coalition or ANA/AMF) knew the history behind it. We assumed it was UK in origin.

About 23 captured Italian tankettes of this type were used to form the very first Greek Armored Battalion!

Re: Mystery "Tank" - location Afghanistan
It's almost criminal to have men fight in such death-traps...useful for towing artillery, I presume...
