Cool Pics : Stalking a T-34 in Central London..............

In my 'Panzefaust' thread, severin referred to an abandoned T-34 in Central London, near the Old Kent Road.

Yeah, right ! - I thought, but a bit of Googling revealed the truth......gotta check it out.

So - hearing that a T-34 had penetrated the City's defences, I shouldered my Panzerfaust, lit a wartime HB cigarette ( OK, not strictly true - neither item would be popular on a tube train...) I set off.......

    And...could this be.......?

    Omigawd......

What a relic.......surely deserves better than this.

Anyhow, it was most interesting to be able to thoroughly study one of WWII's most influential tank designs without any 'Keep Off' signs or hordes of schoolkids !

How extraordinary. It most certainly does deserve better than this!

It looks so out of place just sitting there, it deserves better than that. I wonder who owns it?

Some guy, a scrap dealer or property developer, can't remember which, bought it for his son as a 'birthday gift' IIRC and put it there a number of years ago. It may have been something to do with a planning permission/building regulations dispute with the local council I think.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
