Possible cannon round

Article about: Found on the south coast of England, on the beach .looks to be some kind of round due to the copper rifled ring. Any ideas.

    I dont think its a driving band, the idea of the band was to aid forming a gas tight seal which as the copper bit is smaller than the other part, the head, it couldnt have done. It looks like its a crimped fitting or something that can be turned with a c spanner.

    I think you found yourself a 2cm flak armor piercing shell.

    Or possibly 20mm Hispano from a Spitfire/ Hurricane etc!...

    Yep. I'm also thinking British 20mm. I found one on a beach once.

    Would this possibly be the shell casing off of the same type, as it was brought up in a net a few miles around the coast , just off of Thorney island.
