I think they should have researched the design of the type of gun as well as the history of this gun. Its not a .303 by Browning, its a Browning design made by most probably BSA or Vickers in the UK. Its also based on the ANM2 rather than the 1919.

I noticed the text had a clause about some items being either a 5% or 20% VAT. I assumed the dreaded VAT only applied to 'new' items and not relics/antiques/collectibles ?.

This weapon has been discussed on the Flypast forum and there does seem to be some real doubt with regard to its provenance? However on a more positive side the auction house has now replied to my request for further info to say that the gun has now been deactivated and will come with the required certificate to allow it to be legally retained without a section 5 licence.
