Hi Ben, this U Boat is at Birkenhead on Merseyside, England and they are proposing to cut it up into three sections so it can be moved easier to a new display site.

Cheers Ade, thats one that at the moment is a museum down by the docks? Where are they taking it? Do you know?

Hi Ben, basically the old Museum where the U Boat was kept closed down, and is now a car park....

The U Boat was moved a short distance down the road at a cost of £250,000. It now sits closed to the public. The Danish owners want 5 million Euros for her. No buyer has came forwards and the owners proposed to cut her up for scrap! The link I provided tells the whole sorry story.

The proposed solution is to have her cut into sections and a new museum built.

Interesting: 5 milions or cut to the metal, the garbage price for just a steel approx 30 cents for kilogramm. What's a profit in that deal?
Or just an ambitions of the owner?
