Uk airfields buried treasures and other myths ....

Article about: i have spent many years on WW2 uk airfields and spend a lot of time talking to locals about local knowledge / stories etc, without doubt the most common Myth i come across is the ''they dug

    There was so much stuff left over at the end of the war and no health and safety that much was disposed in the most convieniant manner. I recall diving in the Thames near Windsor on hitting bottom when the silt cleared the bottom was littered with hundreds of mortar rounds, mills grenades and countless rounds of .303. Was later advised by the NRA ( national rivers authority for our colonial friends) that all the home guard reserves were deposited there at wars end.
