I assume its purporting to be a 1st pattern SS, but i thought the border was a lot thinner than this one, but i reckon its a dud as well, nice helmet though

Robert, this one has reproduction decals and probably been repainted as well along the way, sorry but she's a goner and would need a total strip and rip.

Thanks Doug,et al....this was offered to me as a M-40 sd ss,,,i knew as soon as i opened the jpgs that it must be no good as the guy said at one point about 10 years ago he had about 30 german helmets,,,if he couldnt get the ID correct,i suspect he had more fakes in his collection as well
