Can a M42 have SS decals?

Article about: Hi all, I've read that there originally no M42 with SS signs produced. Is this information 100% save or is there a chance that a helmet with NS64 and 5361 has still that sign on the legt sid

    Hey Map, thanks a lot, I apprichiate your help! You gave me exactly the answear I was looking for.
    Yesterday I saw in books that M42 with SS decals exists and I also found a similar looking one. I'm probably not supposed to show it here, but it confused me and showed, that I have a to big lack of knowledge. Your answear helps me for the next find to help myself.
    For the actual one I need to say that
    in the end, there were so many red signs..

    SS Item -> mostly fake
    Low price -> probably fake
    Bad quality pictures -> probably fake
    The owner don't "know" if its a real one -> fake
    Answear on this thread -> ITS FAKE :-)

    Thanks a lot

    The always conveniently chipped off bottom tip to the rune shield is a giveaway....they found out about the round bottom fakes, so the fakers always seem to accidentally chip off the tip, thinking that no one will be able to tell then...

    And if the seller says he doesn't know if it's real, that's a confirmation that he DOES know..it's a fake!

    Ken N's two books in my opinion are must haves and the two most up to date. There are other specialist books (camo's, etc.) But you should start with these.

    But as good as a book is, they are not always perfect and are a point in time collection of knowledge. Once printed they can not keep up with newly discovered knowledge, so always consult a forum and read the threads.
