    Used the pinned guide and had a lot of help from Mr David H, thanks Dave.

    Lot nr 3235

    Initialed inner lid, chin strap snapped but so it goes.

    I like it. Looks good. By the pics provided it looks like a promising EF pattern decal.

    Thank you SSamir. Iam also enjoying looking at some of the exotic SS lids on the forum here. Learning what to watch out for also!

    Dougs recent black one caught my eye, his so called holy grail.

    This is a straight up EF SS M42, good catch!

    Has it been worn down to expose portions of the sub layer of the decal ( white spots ) and then the rest of the helmet cleared coated
    ..... or oiled or waxed? Looking at the discolouration areas of the underside it seems to me to be an odd finish for it to now have.

    I highly doubt it. More like post war black paint to me with a liberated decal.

    If i am wrong and the black paint was period applied, then it could have been used by the Volksturm or Flak.
